Ending Future Violence Against Women and Children
$1,000 enables 18 victims of domestic violence to obtain Temporary Restraining Orders that provides them with a sense of safety.
By helping victims obtain restraining orders, the orders put a batterer’s violence on the record and threaten criminal prosecution if the batterer disobeys the order. Statistically, when a restraining order is implemented, the victim’s risk of lethality drops dramatically.

Project Info
Next Door offers low income, ethnically diverse, immigrant and resident victims of domestic violence with a wide array of free legal services that include: assistance with filing restraining orders against their batterers; court document preparation; accompaniment with victims to court; development of safety plans; and assistance with work permits, visas, and residential status. Last year, we provided 2,670 Acts of Advocay to help individuals and families remain safe.
