Project Info
The San Jose Youth Symphony, which provides music education to young musicians from 8 to 21, wants to offer free tuition to those families who could not otherwise afford to join one of the six SJYS ensembles.
Currently, SJYS can afford to offer financial need scholarships to five families per year, but we would like to double this number! We serve kids from all over the Bay Area, and want to bring the joys of playing an instrument in an ensemble to all young musicians, regardless of their ability to pay.
Tuition covers the costs of our September to June regular season, with its weekly rehearsals and major concerts, plus the costs of our mandatory summer camp, where the music for the upcoming season is unveiled, and musicians begin their wonderful year-long journey of learning how to perform a beautiful piece of music as part of a large or small ensemble.
