Project Info

Over 100 people attended last year's August symposium (photo is from last year's "Talks in the Garden" event). Our objective this year is attract 300 attendees, and offer the program with no admission charge.

100% of all donations will go directly toward the hard costs of this program:

space rental - $1200;
food - $2500;
printing - $350;
translation equipment rental - $2000.


This event is a landmark opportunity to hear top Afghan and American academics, community cultural leaders, and local politicians discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Afghan and American communities in Fremont, CA

Our program's purpose is to create public awareness around the challenges Afghans face when they come to the United States.

Our panel will discuss the ins-and-outs of citizenship in Fremont through the expression of culture, religion, history, education, and local public policy. We will also address the unique circumstances that Afghans experience when adjusting to life in a multicultural, multi-ethnic/racial, and secular society.

The program will be bilingual. We will have Farsi and English translators.
