Six Months of Food for Elderly Cats in Sanctuary

Abandoned Pet Rescue

Our shelter houses about 100 elderly cats who are likely to live out their lives here at the shelter. They are rarely adopted because they are older cats. We would like to raise funds for six months of high-quality, consistent food that will dramatically improve their health and energy. Currently, they are being fed based on the donated cat food we receive, which is constantly changing.

Project Info

Our shelter houses about 100 elderly cats who are likely to live out their lives here at the shelter. They have two indoor rooms and an outdoor room that they call home. They all roam freely and are quite friendly, but they are rarely adopted because they are older cats. Additionally, some of the cats have old wounds from before they arrived and do not look as pretty as our younger cats. They are harder to adopt and we want to make their lives here as happy as possible.

We would like to raise funds to cover six months of high-quality, consistent food. Currently, they are being fed based on the donated cat food we receive, which is constantly changing. This causes many problems in the over all health and energy levels. Some of our older cats suffer from runny eyes, dehydration, constipation, diarrhea, low energy, and depression. In times when we have had enough funds to cover consistent, high-quality food, we have found them to be cleaner, have shinier coats, and they get in a lot fewer fights with one another.

Our staff would like to purchase brown rice and 65 pounds of chicken per week and prepare it for the cats every week. The costs would be $65 per week to feed 100 cats so we are asking for $1,690 to fund this initiative for six months. We will use the results of the cats' improved health to approach local donors so that they can see the results and permanently fund this project.

Please consider donating to our elderly cat sanctuary. We hope that this food will also make them more likely for adoption (shinier coats and happier cats!) so that they can find loving retirement homes.

I have adopted three (3) older cats from your shelter over the past 9 years. right now i have Butters who has to have a "grain free" diet. because he possibly may be diabetec. He is fed "WELLNESS" grain free and CORE. So far he is doing quite well.

From Frankie and Bertha- (now Monk) both of whom were adopted from your shelter and are very wonderful and immensely loved. You are an amazing sanctuary for so many animals and we just want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If I am ever in a position to adopt again I would never consider going anywhere else.
