Help Peter Find his Dream Job!

Project HIRED

Help us help more disabled adults become employed! At Project HIRED, people with disabilities receive the career coaching, job skills, job search workshops, and computer experience they need to find a competitive job in Silicon Valley! The average weekly earnings of program participants increased from $71./week to $544./week after going through the program and becoming employed! It costs approximately $4,000 to sponsor a job seeker to participate in Project HIRED’s workshops, career coaching, and computer resource center. 91% of total revenue is used to fund program services.

A key to finding the right job is having the right skills, training, and experience.

Project HIRED serves a wide range disabled adults, including individuals with physical and mental impairments, hearing impairment, chronic illnesses, and learning disabilities, with at least 50% of the participants having severe disabilities. An emphasis is placed on targeting minority groups and those unemployed 6 months or underemployed. Participants possess an array of skills and seek employment in a variety of industries.

Project HIRED offers a full range of job placement services for disabled job seekers. In addition to working with local employers, Project HIRED provides competitive employment opportunities through its HIRED Temps temporary staffing division as well as longer term employment through its outsourcing call center business services. These jobs allow candidates to build a current work history, gain experience, enhance their skills, and learn about a company or industry, while earning a regular pay check.

Project HIRED, a not-for-profit community-based organization, was established in 1978 to create and expand competitive and integrated job and career opportunities for individuals with disabilities by partnering with private industry.

2006 RESULTS:
• 870 job candidates with disabilities applied for Project HIRED services.
• 206 candidates were hired into direct or temporary employment.
• 83 candidates were employed for 90 days or more.
• 60% of those placed in regular employment had a severe disability.
• 54% of those placed in regular employment had been unemployed for at least 6 months prior.
• Project HIRED employs over 100 individuals with disabilities in its different business units; 95% of these workers have a severe disability.

And, we are looking for TALENTED VOLUNTEERS who can spend as little as two hours a month working with disabled job seekers.
