Project Info
Angel, a sweet and loving Rottweiler, was tethered to a tree outside of her dog house in the backyard for 5 long years. A young woman had inherited Angel from a relative who gave her up when he found out that she couldn’t be bred. The woman wanted to provide a better life for her but given that she had been financially forced to live with her parents, and the dog wasn’t ever allowed in the house, the young woman had finally made the decision to surrender her to Humane Society Silicon Valley, where she knew Angel would receive the medical care she desperately needed and a second chance at a happy life.
Angel came to HSSV grossly overweight – she had not been walked in 2 years. She also had a condition called Cherry Eye – a simple procedure could have fixed the condition but the owner had not been able to financially take care of it. We thought Angel would make a great companion for someone, but found a lump on her shoulder that we needed to biopsy before working on any of the other health issues. After the biopsy came back as benign (yay!), our surgeons performed the surgery to remove the lump, fixed the eyes and now we’re working on her weight!
