HSSV’s Regional Rescue team visits local shelters every week to help animals who may not otherwise have had a second chance. Last year alone, HSSV rescued, treated, and adopted more than 870 animals into loving homes.
Shiloh was one of those dogs – a sweet but scared German shepherd puppy who had been abused by his owners and whose leg was shattered beyond repair. His leg was amputated but the local shelter did not have the resources to care for him after his surgery. HSSV rescued Shiloh and placed him in a foster home where he could recover and learn to trust people again. Today, Shiloh gets around quite well on three legs, accompanying his new family on neighborhood walks.
Bailey, a 7-month-old mini pinscher was found in an overnight box at an animal shelter in Hollister with a fractured elbow. While not life-threatening, Bailey’s medical condition was more than the shelter could handle. At HSSV, Bailey received a thorough medical exam and an operation to place a metal pin in his elbow to help mend his fracture. He was placed in foster care and therapy to rebuild his muscles and flexibility. Bailey is no longer in pain and lives happily with his new family.
Every donation of $350 will allow HSSV to save one more precious life in our Regional Rescue Program. Your support will help provide food, shelter, medical care, and training to animals like Shiloh and Bailey so they can soon be adopted into a safe and loving home.
