Project Info
Our goal is to help families pay for the cost of spay/neuter. The purpose is to help with the animal overpopulation problem and decrease the number of animals that ultimately end up in shelters. Our initial applicants will come from SVACA referrals and from our community outreach events.
Our application statement and how it will work:
Did you know that spaying and neutering:
? Keeps your pet healthy and helps prevent many diseases.
? Helps keep your pet at home since he/she will not have the urge to seek a mate.
? Helps ensure that no more unwanted animals are born.
? Helps with many behavior problems, such as spraying and marking territory.
Here is what you need to know about this program:
1. This program is designed for those in financial need of assistance – with an annual income of $50,000 or less per household and you must live in Santa Clara, Campbell or Monte Sereno.
2. Your pet must be currently licensed with the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA). Contact SVACA at 408-764-0344 for more information.
3. Once we receive your application: You must submit a current copy of a utility bill with the application. The application will be processed, the voucher will be issued and mailed to your listed address (approx. 2 - 4 weeks). DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT until you receive the voucher in the mail. With an approved application you will receive a voucher for $5 towards your cat’s spay/neuter and/or $40 towards your dog’s spay/neuter. There is a limit of two animals per household per year. The current pricing at SVACA is $10/cat and $50/dog.
4. Once you have received your pet’s voucher: You will have 90 days, from date of issue, to schedule a sterilization appointment at Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority please call (408) 746-0358. No refunds will be made if the voucher expires. You must advise the clinic if someone other then the person listed on the voucher will be taking the pet in on the date of surgery.
