Project Info

The 14-year civil war in Liberia has had a devastating impact on the civilian population, and particularly on the nation’s children. An estimated 65% of the school-age population currently has no access to education. The civil war has left the country with virtually no remaining educational infrastructure. 75% of schools were destroyed during the conflict. Unemployment is 85%. Most of the children now live on the streets in Liberia because they were orphaned during the war. Also children who were force to fight during the war suffer neglect and are considered by most people as enemy combatants. This leads to the increase in the number of children living in the streets of Liberia.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to lease a six-room house which will serve as a new home to children who are currently homeless. It will also serve as a Child Development Center where children will be counseled, nourished, sent to school, taught hands-on skills, and allowed to grow and become healthy productive citizens of their society.
