The Little Squirt Hernia Project

Humane Society Silicon Valley

Since the release of the Chihuahua movie, we've seen a huge influx of these little dogs surrendered to shelters. Many of the puppies we've rescued from public shelters have been surrendered, likely by back yard breeders, due to hernias. Rather than fix the hernia surgically, these little babies get dumped at the shelter when they are typically too young to make it on their own!

Project Info

In the past several months, HSSV has rescued 5 little chis with hernias in need of repair. HSSV places them into foster care until they are old enough to go through the surgery. Once the surgery, plus spay/neuter is done, these little ones are good as new and ready to be adopted into their new perfect home!

These surgeries are costly and the preparation time also costs a lot in people resources. You can sponsor a chi in need of surgery for $400! If we can raise $2,000, we can cover the surgical costs for each of these little guys!
