Project Info
Saturday Sacks is a project in partnership with local elementary schools. We currently serve 310 children each week at two elementary schools in our community. We would love to expand this program to all six schools in our county and then to the next county. About 65% of students in our local school systems qualify for free or reduced school lunch.
Some of these children do not get enough or any food to eat over the weekend. Our program provides them a small sack of child friendly, nutritious food to help them over the weekend.
The average cost for the food for each sack is $3. This means we need about $900 per week. We will be serving these sacks each weekend through the rest of the school year.
We would love to get donations to cover the cost of one month of food.
Although, we are the lead agency on this project, we have volunteers from all over our community.
