Project Info
The “Sponsor-A-Family Program” provides a subsidy to families who cannot afford to pay the $40 per night room rent fee. Most of the guest families come from economically depressed outlying and rural communities in northern California, and only about one third of these guest families can afford to pay the full $40 per night fee. Some pay a portion of the rent fee, and many aren’t able to pay anything at all. The Kiwanis Family House never turns a family away due to an inability to pay the rent fee. No matter the financial resources available to our guest families, the Kiwanis Family House enables families to remain together while receiving medical care, a critical factor to improve the child’s healing process. $10,000 would subsidize the rent fee for more than 42 families, based on an average stay of six days per family.
