Help us help the creek!

Acterra

Our volunteers are planting native plants and removing invasive weeds in the San Francisquito Creek watershed to improve habitat and promote creek health. San Francisquito Creek forms the border between Menlo Park and Palo Alto, CA. The watershed encompasses the towns of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Portola Valley and Woodside. We're looking to expand our efforts, and we need a cargo van to haul plants, mulch and tools to our restoration sites.

Community volunteers gave 1040 hours of their time in 2007 alone, and we plan to break that record in 2008 and 2009! To better supply our increasing numbers of volunteers with the things they need to help us improve plant, insect and animal habitat and help beautify the open space in the San Francisquito Creek watershed, we need more cargo hauling capacity. We want to buy a used, good condition cargo van to haul plants, tools, mulch and other supplies from the Acterra native plant nursery in the Palo Alto hills to our restoration sites along creeks in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Restoration volunteers include school groups, youth groups, corporate groups, community groups, plant lovers, bird watchers, animal lovers, bicyclists, creek walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. Restoration builds communities and provides the public with an opportunity to learn about and help build a healthy planet.
