Scully is a sweetie who deserves a new home!!!

Humane Society Silicon Valley

Scully has been with Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) since early February 2007 and is currently in a foster home! Help us keep her social, healthy and fed so we can find her that perfect home! $1,000 provides food and medical care for so many animals in HSSV's foster program and will help take care of Scully and other dogs just like her in HSSV's foster program.

Project Info

Scully is a beautiful, shy, 9 year old labrador/sharpei mix with stunning ears that was surrendered to HSSV early in the year. We're always astounded that sweet dogs like Scully are dumped at the shelter after so many years of service in their prior homes. When she came in, we knew right away that she would not do well in the shelter environment - she startled easily at loud noises and was scared of everything, though she still showed interest in being loved by people. Because we realize that every life is precious, we immediately found a perfect foster home for her. To date, we've performed an expensive blood panel that we routinely do for our older shelter guests to make sure they're healthy and we've gotten her updated on shots, de-worming and we've microchipped her. Scully is doing well in her foster home, but it is very costly to maintain her there. Please consider giving to HSSV's foster program to help Scully and other animals in the program by helping us to feed and provide for their medical needs while they wait for us to find them their new, loving home.

P.S. Scully would do well in a quiet home with other dogs, children over 13. Because of her beautiful white coat and skin that is prone to burning, she should be indoors during the daytime! She also qualifies for the Golden Pet Program, an HSSV program that provides benefits to those adopting animals over a certain age!

UPDATE ON SCULLY -
I thought you all might like to hear how Scully is doing now that she is in a new, loving home! Thank you for helping us take good care of her until she was ready to be adopted!

Even though Scully's foster mom was in love with her, she knew that adding another (fourth!) dog to the household would be too much. Then Wendy and Eric entered the picture. With their childless home, they were the perfect match for Scully and were completely attracted to her. I just talked with Wendy and she told me that Scully is doing great in her new home. She's become more playful during the time that they've had her, she's incredibly affectionate and loves, loves, loves hanging out in their travel trailer (she had her first camping trip to Mt. Madonna and has really taken to the trailer since then). Scully is perfectly potty trained and does things daily to make Wendy and Eric laugh. She's a snorer (and is now snoring in bed with Wendy and Eric - they had to buy a sound machine to drown out the noise) and just yesterday, she buried her chewy bone in the yard, gently pushing the dirt back into place with her nose.

Wendy says that they adore her and are so happy they adopted her. While I was talking to her, she was honking Scully's favorite toy in the background, a giant, honking tiger.

Thanks to you, with the generous support you provide, we are able to take in dogs that just need extra time and a little more understanding. Because of your wonderful, caring support - dogs like Scully, 9 years old, are able to get a new lease on life. Thank you, Wendy and Eric, too!
