Project Info
Currently, we are only able to serve about 1/4 of the 2000+ child victims of abuse and neglect who come through the Davidson County court each year. Our goal, and the goal of our Juvenile Court Judge Betty Adams Green, is to provide a CASA volunteer to every child who has been a victim of abuse.
Over the course of each individual court case, it costs $968 to train and supervise one volunteer to be a Special Advocate for one child. If we raise $9,680, we will be able to train and supervise 10 more volunteers for multiple years, and this will enable us to serve even more children in the long term.
For each increment of $968 that we raise, we will be able to train one more volunteer and serve one more child or sibling group!
CASA volunteers serve as unbiased investigators, caring mentors, and powerful voices for children in court. Having a CASA provides a child with hope and direction in ensuring that he or she does not fall through the cracks of the foster care system but instead is able to find a safe, permanent home.
Last year, with 230 active volunteers, CASA of Davidson County was able to serve over 530 children. This year, we plan to serve at least 600 children, and we are dedicated to increasing this number until we are able to serve every child in need. Every bit helps us reach this goal!
