Project Info
Centaur Stride is a therapeutic riding center. After many years of service, some of our horses are ready to retire. Most are found wonderful retirement homes. If no home can be found or if the horse is unable to be moved from our center due to health or recommendations that a move would be too stressful the horses are then kept at the stables for the remainder of their lives. They still receive tender loving care from program participants but cannot be used in the riding program. One such horse is Coco. He is very well trained and our students enjoy brushing and interacting with such a gentle animal. Coco is blind in one eye, and almost blind in the other. He has been a part of our program for 15 years. Due to his limited vision he needs to stay in familiar surroundings and routines. Majestic is another horse that has been a valuable part of our program for 12 years. He worked with our most profoundly handicapped children and adult riders and was willing to go the extra mile. He simply understood that they were trying to communicate and did not take any loudness or pulling at his mane personally. Due to his age of 33 years, a move to another location would be too stressful for him.
Both of these horses continue to be a special part of our herd. Due to limited resources our budget does not allow for retirement expenses and we need your support to give these horses the retirement they deserve after so many years of loving service to our program. Please help.
