Project Info
The Assistance Dog Institute is paradise for dog lovers — there are puppies everywhere! We share our offices with dogs, have play yards full of puppies, and, very often, have a litter of young puppies in our puppy room.
From the day they are born, we try to provide our puppies and dogs with an enriching, stimulating environment. We give them lots of toys and things that are safe to chew on. We set up different textures and surfaces for them to walk on, and provide agility equipment and playground toys like slides for them to climb on. This helps their brains develop and enables them to learn faster and become better service dogs.
We also teach them to love being handled and groomed. We introduce them to nail clippers and files, and get them accustomed to having their teeth brushed and their coats brushed from a very young age. This not only improves their health and well-being, it makes them love being touched and petted — something that enhances the bond with their partners when they become service dogs.
You can help us provide an enriching, stimulating, and educational environment for our puppies! Even a small donation buys puppy treats, a toy, or toothpaste and a toothbrush! Larger donations can help us buy agility and climbing equipment, training equipment and more!
