The majority of the funding that we, as a non-profit agency, receive is from Medicaid and county departments of social services dollars. To our community’s and the youths’ great misfortune, recently our state has seen a significant decline in the amount of dollars available to provide the crucial mental health services that they require and that we provide. Therefore, that leaves literally no available money to provide us with facility upgrades or basic maintenance and materials that AHFY desperately requires. AHFY is sustained because of support from community-oriented companies and community members like you. I share with you today because the youth that we work with need your help.

Last winter, Colorado saw one of the biggest snowfalls in our history. With literally no resources to hire snow removal services or even purchase a snow blower, staff and kids were forced to spend countless hours in the freezing cold, shoveling hundreds of feet of snow, one scoop at a time, out of our large parking lot in order to ensure the safety of our youth, staff and guests. As we rapidly cruise into the wonderful season of winter, we are quickly reminded of our snow challenges from seasons' past. We write this project appeal to respectfully request your support of these kids, this mission and the challenges we face. More specifically, on behalf of the families and youth served by Alternative Homes for Youth, please consider this proposal to provide us with resources toward a snow blower, so that we may appropriately take care of our snow removal needs. Your support of this project will allow us to fully concentrate on our most important job--helping the youth and families we work with heal, learn and grow!
