Project Info

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service, the START Center, the City of San Benito, the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District and various other local agencies. There are locations throughout Cameron County and the Rio Grande Valley that can assist low to moderate-income families and the elderly with their tax returns.
The Center believes this is a great program and brings much needed tax credits into the County. Well, as you are well aware, FREE is never free. Even though we utilize primarily volunteers, we still incur administrative costs related to this program...like the lights, phone, etc.
In the 2 years that we have done this program we have completed over $1.2 million dollars in tax returns for low-income and elderly clients. All donations are appreciated.
See the chart on the START Center website.
