PROJECT
Protect Homeless Cats
Provide vaccines, microchips and tests for deadly diseases that can spread to an entire colony of homeless cats. Even though homeless cats traditionally have shortened life spans, we can help these helpless creatures live safer, healthier lives. With your support, HSSV will provide vaccinations, combo testing and microchips at cost...just $21 per cat. As a starting goal, we're going to try to raise $1,050 to provide these items for 50 cats in the month of October.

Project Info
Humane Society Silicon Valley cares about animals' lives - especially if those lives are the estimated 125,000 homeless cats that live in Santa Clara County, California. Along with an HSSV-spearheaded coalition of almost 10 organizations and dozens of community members, HSSV is making an impact in the lives of homeless cats all over Silicon Valley.
It's important to microchip these cats! If one were trapped and taken into an overcrowded shelter, the microchip would save the cat's life by letting the shelter know that the cat comes from a "managed colony" - a colony that has a caretaker to make sure the cats are fed on a regular schedule, provided clean water, vaccinated appropriately and most importantly, spayed or neutered so that they won't continue to produce unwanted kittens that will also reproduce.
Likewise, vaccinating homeless cats protects not only the other cats in the colony, it protects other animals. Please visit http://www.catswithoutahome.com to learn about HSSV's documentary about the homeless cat crisis and how you can help in other ways.
