From the teacher:
"Girls go through various self-identifying issues such as; self-esteem, self-image, self-worth, peer-relationships, academic challenges, and economic hardships particularly in this neighborhood where the average student receives free-lunch.
It's time to move the girls in the right direction! Therefore, I have developed a school guidance program, "GIRL - I LOVE MY IMAGE" This program is particularly designed for the benefit of empowering 20 girls with the tools they need to handle issues and/or concerns, in which they may encounter while trying to become successful and productive young adults.
I am requesting a TV/DVD/VHS combo with a Camcorder. I would like to use the electronics to show various character education videos as well as video tape the girls in various settings, and use the materials as a learning tool for improving character flaws. After viewing the materials, I want them to analyze and self-reflect on the scenarios and make decisions on how they can improve their own actions and self-tormented characteristics.
Lastly, I want the girls to have this experience because it is my observation that my students are very visible and learn through hands-on experiences. I would like to build my girls' self-image by allowing them to see their own flaws via DVD movies, educational resources and/or self-made DVD's."
