Bread for the Journey nurtures the natural generosity of “ordinary” people, empowering them to see themselves as philanthropists working together to transform their own communities. We believe that the people who are most skilled in healing the wounds of a community are those who know where the hidden wisdom, strength, and courage lives in their community. Bread for the Journey volunteers raise money, often in small amounts, from friends, family, and neighbors, and then give small, simple grants to those “saints” that live in every community. They find the people whose spirits are on fire with a passion to make something grow, heal something broken, set something free in their community, and fund their vision to help it swiftly and surely come alive.

Our mission statement is as powerful as it is simple: The mission of Bread for the Journey is to find people with strength and vision who are passionate about improving their community, and help them make it happen.
