About our Charity
Founded: 1938
Established in 1938, the purpose of the Santa Cruz SPCA is to ensure the best possible quality of life for animals and to promote respect and reverence for all. Our organization provides direct care to animals in need as well as multiple programs both local and national. Even with the current economic hardships, we still maintain an adoption rate of 99.7% of all animals that come through our doors, including old, sick and injured animals.
The Santa Cruz SPCA works to provide relief to overwhelmed public shelters wherever our help is needed. We also perform special animal rescue on a regular basis, such as animals that have been displaced by disaster and more recently, a large amount of animals left homeless due to foreclosure. In the past twelve months we have rescued 1,131 animals and placed 99.7% of them into permanent loving homes. Most of those animals were slated for euthanasia before we rescued them.
We do not receive any federal, state, or local government funding. We depend on monetary donations from kind-hearted people like you.
