Girls’ Leadership Camp is a nonprofit organization composed of teenage girls and adult women, who are working together to build an affordable overnight camp program to benefit Philadelphia area girls.

What makes GLC unique is our leadership model. Girls are on the Board of our camp, and have equal voting power with adults. Girls give their input on every major decision made as the organization is built. We believe that in order for young people to grow as leaders, they must be given authentic opportunities to act as leaders; we also believe that the people served by an institution must have a key role in decision making so that the institution can meet their needs in a relevant and respectful way. GLC has therefore built into our structure having girls and parents play key roles in shaping the organization, serving on our Advisory Board, visiting the campsite throughout the year, and serving in a leadership capacity during the summer program.
