BABI seeks to reduce unnecessary birth interventions; increase and promote normal, spontaneous labor and vaginal delivery; improve breastfeeding success rates; minimize separations; promote healthy mother/baby/family attachment; and reduce the maternal/infant morbidity and mortality rates.

Through compassionate, accessible, and non-judgmental education and resources, BABI promotes greater awareness of evidenced-based care and the broad range of choices available to birthing women as well as birth professionals. In this way, BABI will create a positive fiscal impact on our nation's health care system and, most importantly, restore dignity and joy to the birthing process.

BABI is comprised of an all-volunteer Board of Directors and a supporting membership of parents, providers, and concerned community members.
