Green Neighbors
Bring Light Partners With Green Neighbors:
Support Green Projects in Your Home Town
Do you want to help your community reduce greenhouse emissions? Are you looking for ways to invest your carbon offset money in your city or county, instead of sending the money out of state, or out of the country?
Green Neighbors recruits non-profits in Silicon Valley to post greenhouse gas emissions reducing projects here, on Bring Light.

This is a new service. The following are examples of the kinds of projects we are developing:
- Fund neighborhood tree plantings in a local park.
- Buy energy efficient lighting systems for non-profits, schools, low-income families.
- Install a solar water heater at the community swimming pool.
- Help a disadvantaged family insulate their home and save money.
- Buy solar panels for a school or community center.
- Buy cloth shopping bags to give to residents to help them give up paper or plastic bags.
Why wait? Make a donation now! As with all Bring Light projects, your donation is fully tax deductible.
About Green Neighbors
Green Neighbors is a project of the Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network’s Climate Protection Task Force. Forty-four cities, counties, and special districts in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Alameda Counties are working together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from government operations. The Task Force has teamed up with Bring Light to offer this service to the community.
Please note that Green Neighbors projects do not offer certified offset credits. If you are interested in getting projects certified, please send an e-mail to info@jointventure.org with information about your organization and needs.
How It Works:
Green Neighbors has partnered with Bring Light. Bring Light screens all projects and organizations to make sure they are legitimate and qualify for charitable donations. Bring Light also helps the charities with their project descriptions and provides tools to help them reach out to the community and raise funds.
100% of your donation goes to the project and you will receive a tax receipt via email. The charities pay a service fee to Bring Light based on the amount they actually raise.
And, since you can contribute to charities in your neighborhood, you can follow up directly to see the progress of the project and meet fellow neighbors who have also participated.
Bring Light is proud to partner with Green Neighbors to help your neighborhood become more green!
